FBA Coach Accelerator Program 🏀📝

Over the past 3 months, a selected group community coaches alongside FBA representative coaches went through a Coach Accelerator pilot thanks to Basketball New Zeeland's Coach Development Fund Indicative.

“Firstly I’d like to thank Amy & Nicola from the BBNZ team for supporting this project. It’s great to see our NSO backing various local pilot programs their is a lot of great mahi going on around the country because of funds like this.” - Joe Reddish FBA Coach & Player Development Officer.

Throughout the program Coaches attended four workshops that covered Classroom Management, Art of Coaching, Constraints Led Approach and Coach Development Planning. We were privileged to have some world class basketball minds feature in this program contributing to the workshops. Alex Sarama & Chris Oliver from Basketball Immersion along with Coach Liz Mills who recently signed for Abidjan who play in the NBA Africa League.

Coaches also had some practical on court experience within the new junior development framework as well as various 1 on 1 coaches catchups with our Coach & Player Development Officer, Joe Reddish.

We’d like to thank all those involved in the program with a special shout out to our FBA coaches who put in a lot of mahi into the project. Again none of this would be possible without the support from BBNZ. We look forward to continuing to collaborate in projects that will grow and develop this amazing game.

“We are constantly looking for ways to further grow and develop the game. Coach development has been a huge point of emphasis for us this year so indicatives such as this fund provide great opportunities for locally lead approaches. As the game continue to grow it’s imperative for coach development to meet the needs of the growth and the communities involved.” - Jamie Reddish, FBA GM.
